Due to the Town of Gibsonville’s growth, AWCK conducted long range planning for the water and sewer system. During that planning, a need for a new water tank and increased fire flow was discovered, especially on the northern side of Town. AWCK was then selected to preform survey, design, easement mapping and construction observation and contract administration for the installation of a 12” watermain that would span approximately 8,000 linear feet and connect to developer installed 12” watermain. The design of this watermain included the crossing of two streams, a 10” gas main, a high voltage power easement, and run parallel to a large communication conduit. During the planning phase of this project the engineering team considered several routes and decided to traverse across Town rather than installing excessive quantities of watermain. While this choice did involve the design complexities mentioned above, alternate routes would have provided less benefit to the existing water system and an increased material cost to the Town. The project was completed in August of 2024, ahead of schedule and under the project budget.
