Davidson County – Liberty Drive Elementary School Storm Drain Repairs - 2024

Davidson County reached out to us for assistance evaluating a storm drain that had recently failed at Liberty Drive Elementary School. With no history of the drainage system or prior knowledge of repairs that were conducted our on call team listened carefully to their needs and conducted a through investigation into the existing conditions of the system. Our technical staff suggested that the County contract with a video inspection contractor to visually inspect the up and downstream pipe networks to fully grasp the severity of the situation. AWCK employees provided the County with an exhibit map showing the minimum required areas that should be investigated and then met the selected video inspection crew on site to observe their operations. The design team then reviewed the video and provided recommendations to the County on solutions that would achieve a short term goal, while addressing a long term concern. The County then contracted with AWCK to create contract documents, provide bidding assistance and construction observation. The AWCK staff was able to conduct the investigation, provide recommendations, open bids and provide project oversight within a four month period. This project was completed 2 days prior to the students reporting to begin the new school year.
