City of Mebane – Holt Street Greenway - 2025

The City of Mebane has grown significantly over the previous 20 years and so has their need to increase their multimodal transportation networks. The City began planning for the Holt Street Greenway in 2018, conducting surveys from residents and property owners to determine the best path for the greenway location. AWCK was tasked with reviewing another consultants proposed location, identify stream or wetland impacts and complete an in-depth design of the project to include all necessary permitting. Our design and surveying teams assisted the City with easement acquisitions and coordinated many meetings with property owners who were adjacent to the project, taking every measure necessary to hear their concerns and incorporate them into the design when possible. The completed project provided 3,800 feet of connectivity between existing sidewalks on Third St to sidewalks near the City of Mebane Arts and Community Center. The project also made connections to second street, where additional public recreation fields are located. This project included 120 feet of boardwalk and 54” and 42” culvert installation over an existing stream. This project was completed in January 2025 and was opened for pubic use in March of 2025.
